It lasts just as long, and its just a little bit cheaper when you compare the hook and loop sanding discs to the hook and loop film sheets! I had no idea a sander could be hooked up to a vacuum. So delighted to learn about the clamp:) Thanks!!
Hope that helps. I started with a new HEPA rated filter on my Ridgid W/D vacuum, to see how much particulate made it through. I sand each piece of furniture at least 3 times. Should I ever be compensated to write, I will make full disclosure. The bigget downside is that the last 12 of the shop vac hose is rigid plastic, which makes manoeuvring the sander for anything other than flat work a bit of a challenge. I had a hard hard time swallowing the price of this sander. I have this Ridgid Shop Vac with the orange hose and Im using the SurfPrep Flex Hose (a must buy so you dont have to struggle with a stiff hose!) Best of luck with your project! Well, to help you understand where Im coming from, and what I like or dont like about the SurfPrep Sander, you kind of have to know what I use it for. Its not an Festoll or Fein, but for people on a budget, I can see it making a big difference in noise reduction. (so $0.05 less than the long-lasting orbital sanding discs that I love!). I also have a similar configuration and at one time I purchased a relatively cheap 3D printer. I bought an extra HEPA filter for it but it gets so full of dust I have doubts about its effectiveness. The Wood Whisperer abides by word of mouth marketing standards and holds integrity in the highest regard. Cant beat it!, If you do any degree of woodwork with power tools that accept a vacuum port I suggest you grab one of these. Theyre not the cheapest but I found I can reuse them by cutting them open and sealing back off with silicone and duct tape. As for milk paint, yep I always seal it in some way shape or form. One of the most important aspects of the system is length of hose vs intake loss..I need length and and a system that isnt rigged because I dont want to drag a duct taped rig job all over scaffolds, stairs, etc..What sort of lengths can I expect to work properly et al? If you do not have a bag, the HEPA filter in your vacuum will clog up and disintegrate in no time, and before you know it, you will have to replace it. Here is why I love (and dont love) the SurfPrep Electric Sander! Collecting dust from sanders should be a priority.

I just find I have to be carful of anything lying near an inlet and make sure your wig is glued down tightly or you might lose it. drywall ledgestone urestone taupe almond The most important point to note is the collectors ability to retain the dust after collecting it; so even if you have a high velocity airflow, do make sure that the dust does not escape via the dust bag, or for that matter, anywhere else on the dust collector! No assembly required! I have a 10 gal porter cable shop vac with a bag that I hook up to my random orbital sander. Me Too! I sand on out on my driveway, on a windy day.
One end of a standard small (1.25) shop vac hose fits snugly inside the the connector on the drop (which is a 4 hose that only reduces to 2.5 to connect to the blade guard). I use the ROS a lot and it takes a month of more to fill up the bag. The porter cable is quiet enough but more pricey than those you see in the big box stores. Turn the sander and vacuum ON and sand away! My solution to expensive dust extractor bags is to dedicate the dust extractor to the random orbit sander and use a Rigid shop vac without a bag for general clean up and stuff that generate larger dust and chips like router tables, track saw, etc. At least!
