So, while I understand many swear by dedicated 35mm scanners or DSLR scanning, I settled on an Epson Perfection v850 so I could still get high quality print scans too, because there are countless rolls for which the negatives frustratingly werent preserved.
I can certainly install it on my PC before I retire it but the free version included wont work on my new Mac I read, so Id have to pay for that (which I dont mind, if it gets me a workflow with the least tinkering and the best result). Unfortunately, people keep making new viruses, so anti-virus companies keep making new data files to detect them.

I scanned using a V800 as 16 bit 3200 DPI (RAW) TIFFs, already inverted, but with very light adjustments.I did all the final processing in Lighroom 6. Of course I don't have your negative but I'm pretty confident that Epson Scan with my V500 could pop out an equally (or perhaps more) satisfying result with no user input and provide a 16-bit TIFF for any conceivable PP. SilverFast Archive Suite (I think its called) can load those raw files and allow you to rework on them, invert, change the sharpening, white balance etc (you probably need to go to SFs website for all the features).
For large volume scanning I highly recommend a flatbed scanner like the V850.

I will say that of my old photos that Ive scanned and stored as JPEG Ive very rarely gone back and scanned them again because I wanted better resolution, or improved contrast etc. Import those files into Apple Photos and create an album for all your scans.
