I have made these for my daughters and they both really liked them quite a lot. A pair of old pantyhose saves me aggravation and helps me get the most from my shop vacuum. just collect saw dust off my garage floor and dirt from the car.
I also hook it up to the biscuit joiner, and skill saw, but 85% of the use is with the sanders.

As I write this, I am forming the opinion that the repurposed paper, as in Matts picture, is really duplicating the function of the paper in the original stock filter.

Sanding with the shop vac hooked up is fair easier on my lungs than without. Nuther tip ( that is a good one) is to slip a panty hose leg over the filter and knot it off, keeps most of the gunk offa the pleats. Only had to clean filter 1 time in about a year.
But I have one beef with it.
I cut off enough of one leg to make a pre-filter, tie a knot to close one end, then slip it over the vacs filter cartridge. Is the bag liner in the shape of a loaf of bread on the end of the inlet?

Latest Projects | I have two filters so I may opt to take it completely off, then blow it clean, install the other one, store the freshly cleaned one for later use and on and on. I took a round plastic trash can that was shot, cut the bottom off and the top down to fit inside a 16 gal vac. Theyfeel real strange the first time you put them on,well everytime you try them on, unless you're into that sort of thing, but they are warm as well and they breathe much better than flannel or cotton.
Also allows you to use a finer filter on your vac if you want. That way I can take it outside and hose it off, let it dry while the other one is installed in the vac. "The liners for mine wrap around the inside of the drum, leaving a space for the inlet filter. Its strange that they rent the PC vac, but dont sell them in the store. a tip/strategy to share? The old can keeps the liner from being sucked in. The ones I borrowed are small, which works quite well.
Don't try to do areas that don't suit themselves to the sander.
