The Thien design uses a 1 1/8" wide slot that runs 2/3 of the way around, but it is designed for use with a shop vac, and a smaller diameter trash can. But it actually feels bigger now that there's not piles of sawdust littering the floor all the time! If you have most all of the tools you need then go 2 stage if not get that needed tool but still have DC on your list. I hooked up a length of hose and ran a few tests with some of the machines in my shop. I also used a white one, as they are semi-transparent, andI can see how full it is without having to remove the baffle and look inside. So far I've filled the barrel just over 3/4 full, and there doesn't seem to be any scrubbing or loss of airflow so far.Icurrentlyhave most of my equipment on wheels, andthey are all set up at the same height in order to use the same outfeed table behind my tablesaw for everything.
